Sermon: KNOWING CHRIST IN YOUR TEENAGE YEARS

Theme: Don’t Wait Until Tomorrow—Know Jesus Today

Main Scripture: Ecclesiastes 12:1

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come.”

Introduction

Being a teenager is one of the most important seasons of life. It is a time of learning, making friends, discovering talents, making decisions, and preparing for the future. It is also a time when many voices compete for your attention. Friends, social media, entertainment, school, and the world all try to tell you who you should be.

Sadly, many young people think they have plenty of time to seek God. Some say, “I will follow Jesus when I finish school.” Others say, “I want to enjoy life first.” But the Bible teaches that the best time to know Christ is during your youth.

God is not waiting for you to become an adult before He can use you. He is calling you today.

1. Jesus Loves Teenagers

Many teenagers wonder if they matter to God. The answer is yes.

Jesus loves you just as much as He loves adults. He knows your name, your struggles, your fears, your dreams, and your future.

He understands:

·         The pressure to fit in.

·         The temptation to follow the crowd.

·         The fear of being rejected.

·         The struggle with identity.

·         The questions about your future.

Jesus is inviting you into a personal relationship with Him.

John 15:15

“I have called you friends.”

Imagine that—the King of kings wants you to be His friend.

2. Your Teenage Years Shape Your Future

The decisions you make today will influence the rest of your life.

The friends you choose… The habits you build… The words you speak… The websites you visit… The music you listen to… The people you admire…

All of these shape the person you are becoming.

Proverbs 22:6 teaches that the direction of your youth often becomes the direction of your adulthood.

If Christ becomes the foundation of your life now, He will guide your future.

3. Don’t Follow the Crowd

Many teenagers think:

·         “Everyone is doing it.”

·         “Everyone cheats.”

·         “Everyone is dating.”

·         “Everyone drinks.”

·         “Everyone watches it.”

·         “Everyone talks like that.”

But God never tells His children to follow the crowd.

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Being different for Christ is not something to be ashamed of. It is something to be proud of.

Daniel stood alone. Joseph stood alone. Esther stood alone.

God honored every one of them.

Sometimes standing for Jesus may cost you popularity, but it will never cost you God’s favor.

4. God Can Use You While You Are Young

Many people think they are too young to serve God.

The Bible says otherwise.

Samuel heard God’s voice while he was still a boy.

David defeated Goliath while he was still young.

Josiah began seeking God as a teenager.

Timothy became a respected servant of Christ while he was still young.

Paul told Timothy:

1 Timothy 4:12

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example…”

You do not have to wait until you are older to make a difference.

You can preach. You can sing. You can pray. You can encourage others. You can lead people to Christ. You can live a holy life.

5. Sin Promises Happiness but Brings Pain

The world often tells teenagers:

“Do whatever makes you happy.”

But sin always hides its consequences.

One wrong choice can bring years of regret.

Sin may look exciting at first, but it separates us from God and leads to guilt, broken relationships, and spiritual emptiness.

Jesus did not come to take away your joy.

He came to give you true joy.

John 10:10

“I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”

6. Jesus Wants Your Heart Today

Jesus is not asking you to become perfect before coming to Him.

He is asking you to come as you are.

No matter your past… No matter your mistakes… No matter your struggles…

Jesus is ready to forgive you.

He died on the cross because He loves you.

He rose again so that you could have eternal life.

When you trust Him, He gives you:

·         Forgiveness.

·         Peace.

·         Purpose.

·         Hope.

·         Eternal life.

7. Don’t Wait Until You Are Older

Many people planned to serve God later.

Some never had the chance.

The Bible says:

2 Corinthians 6:2

“Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Tomorrow is not promised.

If Jesus is calling you today, do not harden your heart.

Conclusion

Dear teenager,

The world may tell you that you need popularity.

Jesus says you need salvation.

The world says, “Follow your heart.”

Jesus says, “Follow Me.”

The world offers temporary pleasure.

Jesus offers eternal life.

Your teenage years are not too early to know Christ—they are the perfect time.

The greatest decision you will ever make is not what career you choose, what school you attend, or where you will live.

The greatest decision is whether you will know Jesus Christ personally.

Choose Him today, and He will walk with you for the rest of your life and into eternity.

Call to Commitment

Ask yourself these questions:

·         Is Jesus truly the Lord of my life?

·         Am I following Christ or simply following the crowd?

·         What is keeping me from giving my whole heart to Jesus?

·         If Christ returned today, would I be ready to meet Him?

Today, Jesus is calling you. Open your heart to Him, repent of your sins, believe in Him, and choose to follow Him faithfully. The best decision you can make as a teenager is to know Christ now and walk with Him every day of your life.
