The House with One Locked Room-Actual Story
A Moral Story of Complete
Surrender to Christ
A man inherited a
beautiful mansion. It stood on a quiet hill overlooking the countryside, with
spacious halls, elegant rooms, and strong foundations. It was everything he had
ever dreamed of owning.
One day,
realizing that a house was only truly a home when Christ was present, he
invited Jesus to come and live with him.
Jesus gladly
accepted the invitation.
As they walked
through the mansion together, the man joyfully opened the first door.
“This is my
living room, Lord. It is Yours.”
They spent many
wonderful hours there in fellowship, conversation, and peace.
Next, they
entered the dining room.
“Lord, this room
also belongs to You. May every meal and every moment shared here honor You.”
Jesus smiled.
Then they walked
into the study.
“My work, my
plans, my talents, and my knowledge are Yours as well.”
One by one, the
man handed over every room in the house. Even the guest rooms were dedicated to
Christ.
But as they
reached the end of a long, dimly lit hallway, they stopped before a small
wooden door.
The man
instinctively placed his hand over the key in his pocket.
Jesus looked at
him gently.
“What is behind
this door?” He asked.
The man hesitated
before answering.
“Lord… You may
have every room except this one.”
“And why not this
room?”
The man lowered
his head.
“This room
contains my private desires, my secret habits, my hidden thoughts, and the
things I am ashamed for anyone to see. I would rather keep it locked.”
Jesus did not
argue.
He did not force
the door open.
Instead, He
quietly said,
“If I do not
have that room, I do not truly have the house.”
The words settled
deeply into the man’s heart, but he was not yet ready to surrender.
The Battle at the Door
One night, a loud knock echoed
through the mansion.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Someone was at the front door.
The man looked through the window
and immediately recognized the visitor.
It was the devil.
Without thinking, the man rushed to
the door himself.
He tried to resist.
He struggled with all his strength.
After a long and exhausting fight,
he barely managed to force the door shut.
Bruised and weary, he collapsed to
the floor.
The following night, the knocking
returned.
This time it was louder.
The battle became harder.
Again the man fought alone.
Again he was wounded.
Night after night the same struggle
continued.
The enemy kept returning, and each
battle left the man weaker than before.
Finally, exhausted and broken, he
fell at Jesus’ feet.
“Lord,” he cried, “why do I keep
losing these battles?”
Jesus looked at him with compassion
and asked,
“Who owns this house?”
The man hesitated before replying,
“Well… most of it belongs to You.”
Jesus answered,
“That is the problem. As long as
part of this house belongs to you, the enemy will always find a place from
which to challenge you. Give Me the whole house—including the room you have
kept locked.”
The
Surrender
The man reached into his pocket.
His hand trembled as he held the small key.
Tears filled his eyes.
At last he placed the key into Jesus’ hands.
“Lord…
Every room is Yours now.
Nothing hidden.
Nothing reserved.
Nothing kept back.
The whole house belongs to You.”
Jesus unlocked the small room.
Light flooded into the darkness.
Everything hidden was exposed.
Everything dirty was cleansed.
Everything broken began to be restored.
From that day forward, Jesus was no longer
simply a Guest.
He became the rightful Owner of the house.
The
Final Knock
Some time later, another knock came at the
front door.
The man heard it.
He recognized the voice outside.
The devil had returned.
But this time, the man did not rush to
answer the door.
He simply stood still.
Jesus calmly walked to the entrance.
He opened the door Himself.
The moment the devil saw who stood before
him, he trembled.
Without saying another word, he turned and
fled.
The battle was over before it even began.
The
Lesson
That day the man learned a life-changing truth:
Jesus cannot fully protect what we refuse to
fully surrender.
As long as Christ is only a visitor in our
lives, we will continue trying to fight temptations, struggles, and spiritual
battles in our own strength.
But when Christ becomes Lord of every room—our
thoughts, desires, emotions, habits, ambitions, memories, and secret places—He
stands at the door on our behalf.
Victory does not come because temptation
disappears.
Victory comes because Christ reigns.
Scriptures
“Neither
give place to the devil.” — Ephesians 4:27
“I
have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives
in me.” — Galatians 2:20
Final
Reflection
The goal of the Christian life is not
merely to invite Jesus into a few rooms of our hearts while reserving others
for ourselves.
It is to hand Him the title deed of the
entire house.
When every room belongs to Him, every
door comes under His authority.
Then, when temptation comes knocking, it
is no longer we who answer the door.
It is Christ Himself.
